Project 2
Post 1
For my next assignment, my class is working on a collaborative project with The Contemporary Art Museum in Baltimore City. http://www.finishing-school.net/go/ Here is a link to the website. For our project we will need to walk 3 miles from where we live and document our journey. We will need to capture images and record tweets. Then put our images together to create a webpage that will virtually show our walk.

I finished creating my track but I had to make it a little different then my original design. I had to add a battery for support to weigh down the sculpture because it kept leaning. I covered the battery with aluminum so that it would not stand out from the rest of the materials used. I also had to make my "drop downs" differently. I placed them in between the frame of the structure instead of having them connected on the outside of the structure so that the track would be more supported and balanced. I did not add a bridge like frame to the track either because I did not want to make my final project outside of the required measurements. I didn't have a design to use for the "finish" so I decided to go with a gated box. I created my final piece into 3 different parts so that it would be easy to transfer it from the class room to home. The 3 pieces are the "drop down," the "spirals" and the "finish" which is the gated box.

While creating this first assignment I had some trouble. While making this sculpture I found it difficult to cut the wire. Also while using the hot glue gun to connect the pieces, it did not hold the structure as sturdy as I would like it to have been. Bending the wire would not have worked if I wanted to connect the pieces that way because the pieces would not stick, and they would slip through each other.

Project #1
Post 1
For our class's first assignment I decided to create a track made out of aluminum and wire. I decided to use these materials because they are malleable. They also reflect light and that can draw attention. The track will carry an aluminum ball from the start to the finish location. I drew many sketches and came up with a final sketch that worked best.
